Management Plan

The Isles of Scilly National Landscape Management Plan guides and informs the work of the Partnership and other organisations.

Isles of Scilly AONB Management Plan 2021-2025

The current vision for the Isles of Scilly National Landscape is outlined in the Isles of Scilly Management Plan (2021-2025). The plan has been produced under the statutory requirement which falls on the Council of the Isles of Scilly, under Part IV of The Countryside and Rights of Way Act 2000.

The Management Plan is produced under the direction of the Isles of Scilly National Landscape Partnership. It has been adopted by the Council, and approved by the Department for Environment, Farming and Rural Affairs on behalf of the UK Government.

The Plan aims to define what is special about the Isles of Scilly, and what actions will be taken to protect those special qualities to conserve and enhance natural beauty.

Since the plan’s production, a Farming Position Statement has been produced and agreed by the Partnership, to sit alongside the Management Plan, to support delivery of the plan, and to reflect the true importance of farmers, growers and land managers to the landscape.

Farming is fundamental to the sense of place, economy, culture and wildlife of the isles. The Statement also makes it clear that the Isles of Scilly National Landscape Partnership can only achieve their objectives by working collaboratively and supportively with all on the islands, including farmers, growers and land managers.

Management Plan 2026-2030 Review

The Isles of Scilly National Landscape Partnership is currently in the process of reviewing the Management Plan. It is expected that this will be a two year process, with the new plan in place in April 2026. We will follow Natural England’s guidance on best practice for Natural Landscape management planning. This plan review is a major undertaking for the Partnership, and community engagement will be fundamental to our approach.

As of October 2025, the draft Management Plan 2026-2030 has been published and is available to view and feedback on. Please visit our Consultation page to find out more.
