The Isles of Scilly National Landscape is governed by a Partnership of organisations, detailed on the Partnership page. The day-to-day operation and administration of the National Landscape is completed by our core team:

Partnership Manager

JACOB BLACKETT

Jacob began working for the Partnership in April 2024, having spent several months as a volunteer for the the Isles of Scilly Wildlife Trust. He became National Landscape Partnership Manager in July 2024.

Jacob has a background in Geography and Geographical Information Science (GIS), along with a keen interest in the natural world, biosecurity and nature-based solutions to problems. Jacob is based at the Isles of Scilly Wildlife, the National Landscape’s Delivery Partner.

Partnership Chair

TONY RICHARDSON

Tony joined as Partnership Chair in June 2022, and was reappointed in June 2025 for an additional year. Tony’s long career in nature conservation encompassed a variety of roles including CEO of the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust and RSPB’s Director for South West England.

Tony, now based in London, is a Trustee of the London Wildlife Trust and is a frequent visitor to the West Country and the Isles of Scilly

Partnership Vice Chair

JONATHAN SMITH

Jonathan joined as Vice Chair in April 2025. Jonathan has lived and worked on St Martin’s for 22 years, in which time he has established an organic farming business, has been helping farmers & growers understand their greenhouse gas emissions since 2011. Jonathan was also a Councillor from 2017 until 2021, where he was Lead Member for the Environment and Climate Change.

Jonathan has also been involved in many community initiatives on local food, renewable energy and is involved in activities like gig rowing, cricket and running.

Host Authority

COUNCIL OF THE
ISLES OF SCILLY

The Council for the Isles of Scilly has statutory obligations placed upon it by the Countryside and Rights of Way (CRoW) Act relating to the AONB designation.

As Host Authority, the Council provides a secretariat and administrative lead for the sustainable management of the National Landscape, delivered by nominated Council Officers (Led by the Head of Environment).

The Council delegates some statutory functions to the Partnership, such as the review of the Management Plan.

Delivery Partner

ISLES OF SCILLY
WILDLIFE TRUST

As Delivery Partner since 2014, the Isles of Scilly Wildlife Trust undertakes an annual programme of work, which furthers the aims of the Management Plan, as agreed by the Partnership and Host Authority. This includes the employment of the National Landscape Manager, who serves the Partnership.

Executive Group

This group currently comprises representatives from the Council, other funding partners (Tresco Estate, Duchy of Cornwall, Isles of Scilly Wildlife Trust), and two statutory partners (Historic England, Natural England). The group helps drive forward the work of the NL Partnership (particularly the Delivery Partner but also that of other partners and related Partnership initiatives) in support of the full IoSNL Partnership. More details about these partners can be found on the Partnership page.
