IoSNL Partnership welcomes new Chair

The Isles of Scilly National Landscape (IoSNL) Partnership is embarking on a new chapter, with not only a new strategy in place through the updated Management Plan, but also through a new Independent Chair.

At the IoSNL Partnership meeting on 9th June, Tony Richardson officially stepped down having served as Chair of the Partnership since 2022. Partnership members expressed their sincere thanks to Tony, who selflessly provided his years of experience working in conservation to help steer the Partnership during a period of uncertainty.

Partnership Manager Jacob Blackett said:

“I am so grateful to everything that Tony has given to the Partnership over the last four years, including being a personal mentor to myself as I begin my career in the sector. Tony’s leadership has no doubt strengthened the Partnership, making it a more effective vehicle for conserving and enhancing natural beauty on Scilly. We wish Tony all the best as he continues to dedicate his time to conservation efforts closer to home in London.”

Islander Jonathan Smith officially picked up the baton at meeting on Tuesday 9th June, beginning his tenure as Chair after serving as Vice Chair since early 2025. At the meeting, Jonathan thanked Tony and said that he was looking forward to take up the role at an exciting time, with a new Management Plan in place and an opportunity for the Partnership to explore how this new strategy will be delivered. Jonathan said that he hoped to further improve community engagement with the National Landscape, and help to foster the strong sense of pride that both residents and visitors share in caring for the landscape.
